چکیده

The Ordovician global cooling trend observed by several temperature proxies, which coincides with one of the most significant evolutionary diversifications on Earth, is yet to be fully understood. This study presents new simulations pCO2 and surface temperatures using a spatially resolved climate-carbon cycle Earth system model fed refined continental reconstructions estimates solid degassing. First, in order quantify respective roles paleogeography degassing, impact drift alone investigated. done calculating its imprint weathering rates throughout under constant pCO2, testing different topography inputs. Secondly, sensitivity Earth's climate carbon degassing changes investigated coupling cycles GEOCLIM model. Based our experiments we show that, although Early high can replicated within error margins, constraints cannot explain intense over Mid Late Ordovician, even if progressive enhancement weatherability taken into account. By an inverse modelling approach, calculate that theoretical necessary reach proxy-derived for three-to-five times higher compared modern values. Further, simulate following trend, must reduced modern-day values only 30 Myrs. We conclude accepting veracity temperatures, alternative sources but also sinks considered climatic shift period.

Terrestrial vegetation redistribution and carbon balance under climate change

BACKGROUND Dynamic Global Vegetation Models (DGVMs) compute the terrestrial carbon balance as well as the transient spatial distribution of vegetation. We study two scenarios of moderate and strong climate change (2.9 K and 5.3 K temperature increase over present) to investigate the spatial redistribution of major vegetation types and their carbon balance in the year 2100. RESULTS The world's...

Climate and the carbon cycle

From bees to honey Neonicotinoid pesticides are applied globally. Concern about their impacts has been increasing as evidence for negative effects on bee health and persistence has accumulated. Mitchell et al. looked at the prevalence of these pesticides in honey from across the world and found traces in the majority of samples tested (see the Perspective by Connolly). The neonicotinoid compoun...

Terrestrial Carbon Cycle Dynamics under Recent and Future Climate Change

The behavior of the terrestrial carbon cycle under historical and future climate change is examined using the University of Victoria Earth System Climate Model, now coupled to a dynamic terrestrial vegetation and global carbon cycle model. When forced by historical emissions of CO2 from fossil fuels and land-use change, the coupled climate–carbon cycle model accurately reproduces historical atm...
